The goal of ELWIND, the Estonian-Latvian offshore wind cooperation project, is to create favourable conditions for affordable renewable energy to be developed in our region. This would benefit both the local communities and the electricity consumers in Estonia and Latvia.
To achieve this, the state will conduct thorough studies on how the Estonian offshore wind farm would impact the environment, socio-economic situation, wildlife, seabed, visual landscape, etc.
The aim of the procurement is to study within the scope of environmental impact assessment the bats (order Chiroptera) who are to be found be using or passing by the ELWIND offshore wind park areas and its surroundings.
The Contractor has divided the procurement into two lots according to the study-area. The lots are:
- Lot 1 – Bat survey in the Estonian ELWIND area.
- Lot 2 – Bat survey in the Latvian ELWIND area.
The aim of the study is to determine whether and if to what extent the offshore wind park project, if implemented, could conflict with the conservation needs of the bats or harm their populations. The study should provide recommendations on how to prevent, mitigate and resolve possible negative implications. The study is expected to showcase also possible positive implications.
The submission deadline for the tenders is December 10th, 2024, 10 a.m. EET.
