The subject of the public procurement contract is the execution of a benthic ecology study and a suspended solids formation and distribution and water quality study for the Latvian site of the ELWIND wind park project.
The benthic ecology study shall include:
- Theoretical study, summarizing existing environmental data on the study area and its surroundings;
- Seabed survey, identifying and classifying benthic species and habitats throughout the study area, and obtaining quantitative data on habitats and seabed types.
Suspended solids and water quality study shall include:
- Field environmental surveys to provide data for the environmental impact assessment on marine and sediment quality throughout the project lifetime;
- Theoretical study and scoping of the work, producing a report on available data and potential environmental impacts;
- Numerical modelling to calculate the likely extent of sediment distribution.
A comprehensive environmental impact assessment should also be carried out. The results of the study will be used in the future phases of the ELWIND project.
