ELWIND has signed a contract with University of Tartu to conduct a survey of benthos, habitats, sediments, and water quality in Estonian area.
The aim of the benthic ecology study is to map the habitats and assess the existing condition, identify the natural conditions and nature conservation values of the seabed and aquatic environment in the area, and to assess the potential impact of the project of Estonian seabed communities and habitats as part of the environmental impact assessment (EIA) of the ELWIND project. The detailed study will be done in the proposed wind farm zone in Estonia and in radial cable corridors (from wind farms to the shore) areas also.
The study takes about 1,5 years.
