The primary objective of the study is to obtain information on meteorological and geological conditions, unexploded ordnance (UXO), and archaeological sites within the ELWIND project area in Latvia by analyzing available literature and other data sources.
The study consists of four parts:
- Metocean (initial) desk study to determine precise marine meteorological conditions (wind, water level, currents, and ice) in the study area;
- Geological desk study to assess the area’s geology, seabed features, sediments, and to prepare for further geophysical studies;
- UXO (unexploded ordnance) desk study to identify potential locations of UXO remaining from the World War I and World War II;
- Archaeology desk study to determine whether there are any archaeological sites within the ELWIND project area in Latvia.
The information obtained from the study will be used in future ELWIND studies.
